Don Stevenson, Auburn’s ‘Pacin Parson,’ recently completed a 360-mile walk for the Spina Bifida Association of Washington State. The 73-year-old former pastor, Marine, teacher and truck driver walked 30 miles a day, following the Interurban Trail from Pacific to Renton and back each day.

“I made it through the walk OK,” Stevenson said. “I met a lot of people, but the main thing was getting out the information to people about it (developmental birth defect).”

The walk also raised about $500 toward the cause, said Stevenson, who conducted the walk on behalf of a friend, Brian Knowles, who has spina bifida.

Stevenson has logged approximately 40,000 miles for various charities since 1998. Last year, he finished a 13,000-mile walk – from Seattle to New York City – for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America and for a friend affected by the disorder.
