The board of directors leads the National League of Cities in setting the agenda for the year, developing long-term goals and directing the overall governance of the organization.
“The City of Auburn has been a NLC member for many years,” Peloza said. “It affords elected officials the opportunity to get involved in the seven primary committees, such as, being a member of the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee. Finishing up this year as committee chair, nominated and elected to the board by my pears is an awesome experience.
“In addition, as a member of NLC, the City has offered the NLC Prescription Drug Discount Card Program for its citizens who don’t have insurance. In the last eight years, citizens have saved nearly $150,000 dollars,” Peloza said.
Congress of Cities is the largest gathering of local elected officials and staff in the country, and is designed to offer exceptional educational and networking opportunities to increase the effectiveness of local leaders.
