Members of La Banda Gozona, with special guest dancers Grupo Cultural Oaxaqueno, performed a rousing concert at the Auburn Library last Sunday.
The audience enjoyed the bright brass music of Oaxaca by La Banda Gozona. La Banda Gozona offers a unique treasure to the state. It is made up of Latino and non-Latino artists dedicated to exploring the brass band music of Oaxaca in southern Mexico.
In the 19th century, indigenous people from the Mexican state of Oaxaca adapted banda instrumentation (standard reeds, brass and drums) to their own cultural celebrations.
