Pilot program for Auburn special election to provide accessible voting

Voters in the Auburn School Districts will soon get to experience the new accessible voting service to be piloted for the March 10 special election.

The short-term accessible voting center provides equipment for voters to cast an audio or touch-screen ballot in English or Chinese. With large font, high contrast and a key pad device, voting is made easy for voters with disabilities.

Ballots for all registered voters in the three school districts were mailed Feb. 18 to approximately 67,000 voters total.

In addition to the accessible voting center open at the Elections Office in Renton, a team of elections staff will travel to Auburn with measures on the ballot to open an accessible voting center on the following dates and times.
