Police blotter | July 24

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between July 15 and July 21:>

July 21

Shoplifting: 6 a.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Somebody swiped two 12 packs of beer from Safeway them zoomed away in a grey Pontiac with the ill-gotten suds.

Fraud: 8 a.m., 2900 block of Auburn Way South. A senior citizen answered an ad in a Korean newspaper wherein the ad placers claimed they could reduce his interest rate. The man sent these unknowns his credit card number, his credit card statement and a copy of his photo ID, but they turned around and charged $2000 to his credit card. He told police the bad guys are no longer responding to his attempts to contact them.

Shoplifting: 5:30 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Police arrested a woman for walking out of the Burlington Coat Factory with a cartload of merchandise without first bothering to pay for it.

Shoplifting: 7:39 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man for shoplifting two Hurricane beers and a sandwich of unknown composition from Safeway.

July 20

Burglary: 4:30 a.m., 1015 24th St. NE. When an alarm went off at Cascade Middle School in the early morning hours, the alarm company called the principal. The principal checked the building, noticed a ceiling tile that had fallen from the ceiling and deduced that the falling tile had set off the alarm. When the custodian arrived later, he noticed the fallen tile was in fact the entry point for a burglary. The burglars got away with two Dell computers. Police did not disclose a value.

Vandalism: 2:03 a.m., 11000 block of Southeast 297th Street. Police arrested a man for malicious mischief after he hurled a plastic lawn chair at his girlfriend’s vehicle, damaging its hood.

July 19

Theft from vehicle: 2.34 p.m. 1101 Supermal Way SW. Somebody saw a man breaking into a car in the parking lot of the Supermall to steal a stereo. By the time police arrived, the thief and the stereo were gone.

Weapons offense: 3 a.m., 500 block of 2nd street Southeast. Somebody unknown fired shots into the air from a vehicle. Nobody was hurt and nothing was damaged.

July 16

Vandalism: 7:10 p.m., 1400 block of Lake Tapps Parkway East. A woman contacted police when she discovered that somebody had keyed her vehicle doors. The woman told officers she has been involved in verbal disagreements with another female over “boyfriend issues.”

July 15

Burglary: Overnight, 4017 A St. SE. A restaurant manager reported that somebody unknown had entered an unlocked back door, then broke into an office and stole some $275 in cash from a desk drawer.

Vandalism: 10:?07 p.m. 700 block of L Street Southeast. Police arrested a man with an extensive history of domestic incidents involving a local woman after he lost his temper and kicked a hole in a wall during an argument.
