Rainier Middle School receives mini grant

A variety of classroom and instructional items will be purchased by 19 staff members at Rainier Middle School in Auburn thanks to the generosity of Unit 19, Southeast King School Retirees’ Association and the Naomi Mathisen Memorial Mini Grant Fund.

Mini grants, in the sum of $200 each, are provided to enhance classroom learning. The mini grant committee was impressed with the wide range and variety of instructional materials selected by Rainier staff for their classroom needs.

The Naomi Mathisen Memorial Mini Grant fund was established this year to recognize and honor retired Renton School District teacher Naomi Mathisen’s leadership, teamwork and her many years of service to school-aged children, teachers, Washington State School Retirees’ Association and Unit 19.

Unit 19 covers the school districts of Auburn, Kent, Tahoma, Enumclaw and Renton. For more information on the unit and the Washington State School Retirees’ Association, contact Michele Hunter at 360-413-5496 ext. 116.
