Rep.-elect Stokesbary named to House committees

Drew Stokesbary, elected in November as state Representative from the 31st Legislative District, has received his committee assignments for the upcoming legislative session.

Drew Stokesbary, elected in November as state Representative from the 31st Legislative District, has received his committee assignments for the upcoming legislative session.

Stokesbary (R-Auburn) will serve on the Appropriations, Finance and Judiciary Committees.

The House Appropriations Committee considers the state operating budget, while the Finance Committee considers issues relating to tax policy. The House Judiciary Committee considers a wide variety of subjects involving civil and criminal law.

“I am humbled to be selected for these legislative committees, and excited to get to work on behalf of the 31st District,” Stokesbary said. “I campaigned on the idea of funding education first, and serving on the Appropriations Committee will allow me to work collaboratively with other legislators to ensure that our schools are funded adequately and fairly.”

Stokesbary is an attorney and graduate of Duke University and Notre Dame Law School. He lives in south Auburn with his wife, Ashley, and their 7-month-old son, Jackson.

The 31st Legislative District includes the communities of Auburn, Bonney Lake, Buckley, Carbonado, Edgewood, Enumclaw, Lake Tapps, South Prairie, Sumner and Wilkeson.
