Rep. Priest to hold community meetings

Listening to constituents, hearing creative solutions to state challenges and relaying information about flood relief aid are the goals of two community meetings Rep. Skip Priest will hold Saturday in Federal Way and March 21 in Pacific.

“We’ve just passed the mid-point of the legislative session, so it is a good time to touch base with folks who want to share their thoughts on state government and bills being considered by the Legislature,” said Priest, R-Federal Way. “I will also have updated information on flood relief and assistance at the meeting in Pacific for those who suffered property damage during the storms earlier this year.”

Priest also has set up an online questionnaire that allows constituents to weigh in on a few issues being debated by the Legislature. There is also room for constituents to leave comments and provide their opinions at the end of the survey.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

Federal Way

Saturday, March 14

10 a.m. to noon

Highline College in Federal Way, Room 103

33320 – 1st Way South, Building A, Federal Way

Pacific

Saturday, March 21

10 a.m. to noon

Senior Center, Suite B

100 – 3rd Avenue S.E., Pacific

The meeting in Pacific will include a representative from the Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA) office to help those affected by the recent storms apply for federal aid before the March 31 deadline. Information will also be provided on how property owners who suffered land or structure damage can apply for a reassessment of their home, which could mean a partial state property tax rebate for some home owners.

No advance registration is necessary. Those planning to attend the meetings and would like information on a specific bill are asked to call his legislative office to ensure the information is available at the meetings.

Constituents who cannot make the meeting are encouraged to call or e-mail Rep. Priest with questions or ideas. Priest can be reached at (360) 786-7830 or priest.skip@leg.wa.gov.
