Residents encouraged to register for national Give thanks. Walk.

Auburn residents can join people across the country in taking steps in the fight against childhood cancer by participating in the national “Give thanks. Walk.” to be held Nov. 21 at the Auburn SuperMall starting at 8 a.m.

The walk is one of 39 events that will be held collectively around the country to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

While registration is free for the walk, participants are encouraged to ask friends and families to sponsor them with a donation to St. Jude. All registrants who raise a minimum of $35 will receive an official Give thanks. Walk. T-shirt.

“The Give thanks. Walk. is a great opportunity for Auburn to participate in a enjoyable and fun activity while supporting St. Jude, where no child is ever turned away because of a family’s inability to pay,” said Connie Rogers, Give thanks. Walk chairperson and a St. Jude patient mother from Olympia. “I hope all walkers gain the sense of satisfaction of knowing they are helping children battling cancer and other deadly diseases.”

The Give thanks. Walk. helps kick off the sixth annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign, which encourages consumers to “Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not.”
