Just minutes after the Seattle Seahawks’ impressive 43-8 win over the Denver Broncos in the National Football League’s Super Bowl XLVIII game, local 12th Man fans flocked to the Auburn Sports Authority store to stock up on officially licensed champions gear.
According to Sports Authority employees, the store has been sitting on boxes of hats, T-shirts, sweatshirts, cups, pennants and other items for the past three days in anticipation of a Seahawks victory.
Immediately following the end of the game, Sports Authority stores region-wide threw open their doors. At the Auburn stores 100s of raucous fans stood in line in the chill air for a shot to be the first to get their Seahawks emblazoned championship gear. A larger selection of merchandise is expected to flood into stores in the coming days.
As for the unneeded Denver Broncos champion gear also produced by Nike in anticipation of a possible win, the company donates that to third world countries, according to Sports Authority staff.
