Seamount stars top SPSL, 113-95

A pair of big scoring runs – one to start the game, and another to finish the second quarter – helped the Seamount League get the job done against their South Puget Sound League 3A counterparts on Friday night.

The Seamounters took a 17-3 lead during the first 4 1⁄2 minutes, then put together a 17-2 run midway through the second quarter, and went on to beat the SPSL in a Cloud 9 all-star game on Friday night at Auburn High, 113-95.

Vonche Richardson, a junior at Mount Rainier, led the Seamount with 28 points. He got half of those during the second quarter, including 12 in the 17-2 scoring surge. Rams teammate Jon Morine added 15.

Auburn senior Ryan Snowden led the SPSL stars with 21 points. Trojans junior teammate Jeff Gouveia chipped in 14, as did Enumclaw’s Riley Carel.

Auburn’s Teancum Stafford finished with eight points. Riverside junior Mitch Hagerty had nine, as did Mountainview senior Bland. Jacob Guinn of Auburn had one.

The 40-minute game (10-minute quarters) was one of three played on Friday in the Cloud 9 series. The SPSL North beat the SPSL South, 129-87, and the Narrows League Bay Division beat the Narrows Bridge Division, 108-101.
