Sen. Fain, entertainers to kick off KCLS’ Summer Reading Program at library

Sen. Joe Fain, R-Auburn, visits the Auburn Library on Saturday to help kick off the King County Library System’s Summer Reading Program.

The program begins at 11 a.m. at the library, 1102 Auburn Way S. It is open to the public.

Fain will introduce performers.

Enjoy great rhythm and music with Ponte de Ritmo and participate in crafts and activities throughout the afternoon. End the celebration with Eli Rosenblatt and his trio.

The KCLS Foundation is sponsoring the event.

The lineup:

Ponte de Ritmo (Put Your Rhythm On) Music Workshop, 11 a.m.

Presented by Elsita Savani and Jeff “Bongo” Busch. Family program, all ages welcome.

Who can resist a fun, energizing program about musical instruments. Bring the whole family to this program and be part of a hands-on, call-and-response rhythm and song workshop highlighting instruments from Cuba and Brazil.

Presented in Spanish and English.

Craft and activities, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Drop in to celebrate summer with a variety of crafts and activities. Create an Olympic torch, or build a Lego creation to celebrate your favorite summer sport. And while you’re at the library, sign up for the summer reading program and find out about all free summer programs for kids and families.

We All Play In Our Way Concert, 3 p.m.

Presented by Eli Rosenblatt. Family program, all ages welcome. Is it possible to have a game that has no winner or loser? It is when the game is called music. Bring the whole family and join in the singing and dancing as you learn and use your imagination.
