State Sen. Pam Roach, R-Auburn, has announced that she has endorsed no candidate for District 31, Position 1 House of Representatives, a seat being vacated by her son, Rep. Dan Roach.

“A vacated seat is a rare opportunity for many good people who may want to seek election to the legislature,” Sen. Roach said. “I want to make sure that the 31st District has an opportunity to vote for an individual who will support the will of the voters.

“It is important to restore I-960 provisions that require a two-thirds vote of the Legislature to enact a tax,” Roach said. “There are people in our district who have lead community efforts, championed open government, and who clearly support constitutional rights of individuals. We also need someone who knows how to work for more jobs in today’s difficult economy.”

There might be at least two candidates for the open seat. Pierce County Councilman Shawn Bunney (Lake Tapps) has expressed an interest in running and Enumclaw School Board Director Cathy Dahlquist has announced her candidacy.
