Between June 9 and June 15, the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) responded to the following calls for service, among many others.
June 9
Aid call: 9 a.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated a man who had overdosed, and hustled him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for continued care.
June 10
Garbage blaze: 2:21 p.m. (Auburn). En route to flaming garbage at an apartment complex, firefighters learned from Valley Communications that the fire was spreading to nearby to several garage units and threatening vehicles and other apartment buildings. Firefighters and units from South King Fire and Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority quickly extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
June 11
Aid call: (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated and treated an ailing senior citizen before a private ambulance motored him to to a local hospital.
June 12
Aid call: 4:50 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics performed CPR on a man whose heart had stopped, and then transported him to Harborview Medical Center.
June 13
Aid call: 7:48 a.m. (Pacific). Firefighters helped a caregiver get a man into his new hospital bed, and then left him with his caregiver.
June 14
Elevator rescue: 5:01 p.m. (Auburn). Responding to a report of people stuck in an apartment building’s elevator, firefighters found seven human beings, one of them in the throes of a medical emergency, trapped between the first and second floors. After unsuccessful attempts to reset the system and reach the occupants through the doors, firefighters called for an additional rescue crew, and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority responded. Ultimately, VRFA and PSRFA rescue technicians used the elevator shaft to climb onto the lift from above and got the occupants out.
June 15
Brush fire: 5:53 p.m. (South Auburn). Firefighters responding to reports of brush and trees on fire knocked down the fire, and then used rope systems to overhaul the hot spots.
