Snow blanketed the valley Saturday night, making for a temporary winter wonderland for recreationalists and slick travel for motorists.

In the South Sound, accumulations of 3 to 5 inches found most cities, including Auburn and Kent.

The snow hung around for much of Sunday, but warmer, wetter weather was expected to move into the area, the National Weather Service said.
