Support our troops with donations, letters

May is Military Appreciation Month and city officials are encouraging the public to support U.S. forces overseas by donating supplies.

May is Military Appreciation Month and city officials are encouraging the public to support U.S. forces overseas by donating supplies.

Throughout the month, donations will be accepted at the City of Auburn Community Services front desk, second floor, 1 East Main St.

Among the suggested items to donate include soups and nuts, powdered drinks and Zip-lock bags, instant oatmeal and boxed cereal and other snacks. All supplies will be shipped to troops overseas. (See flyer for a more complete list).

In addition, the public is invited to a letter writing party on Wednesday, May 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the William C. Warren Building in Veterans Memorial Park, 405 E St. NE. Letters to the troops will accompany the care packages.
