Tolling I-405: Tuesday meeting set for Auburn

The Washington Department of Transportation is seeking public input about its plans to possibly add up to two express toll lanes on I-405 that would connect with existing HOT lanes on SR 167. The result would be a 50-mile tolled corridor from Puyallup to Lynnwood.

Officials will gather Tuesday at the Auburn Senior Activity Center in Les Gove Park, 808 Ninth St. SE, Auburn. The open house is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. with a brief presentation at 6 p.m.

The meeting will give the public the opportunity to talk with project engineers, learn about express toll lanes, ask questions and provide comments in an informal setting. Comments will be included in a report to Gov. Chris Gregoire and the Legislature in January.

The Eastside Corridor is the only north-south freeway alternative to I-5 in the Puget Sound region. It is made up of sections of Snohomish, King and Pierce counties, stretching down I-405 and SR 167 to SR 512. The Eastside Corridor Tolling Study project limits encompass only the I-405 and SR 167 corridors.

There are two other meetings slated next week:

• Wednesday, at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE, Bellevue.

• Thursday, at Renton High School, 400 S Second St., Renton.

Each meeting starts at 4 p.m.
