During a routine traffic stop for a speed violation a Washington State Trooper and his K-9, uncovered felony drugs and a loaded shotgun.
On March 9 at 11:40 a.m., a car was stopped for traveling 71 mph in a 60-mph zone on northbound State Route 167, just south of 15th Street Northwest, Auburn. After observing several suspicious indicators a K-9 drug dog was walked around the vehicle and indicated a smell of narcotics from the driver’s door. The driver, a 35-year-old Lakewood man, gave his consent to allow the search of the vehicle. A false compartment in a soda can in the center console contained several pills.
The driver was a convicted felon and had possession of a loaded shotgun.
