King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer recently welcomed King County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Satterberg to the Monthly Good Eggs Breakfast in Federal Way.
Satterberg discussed the unique implementation of the new marijuana law, as well as the growing concern over mental health issues and rising violent crime in South King County.
“There is a real correlation between economic downturns and an increase in mental health related crimes,” von Reichbauer said. “I applaud Dan Satterberg for recognizing this problem and looking for new solutions to address it.
“We need to come together as a unified community and understand how we can prevent crime at the neighborhood level,” von Reichbauer continued. “This is why we want our public and private community leaders to meet in this regional discussion about how crime has affected our area, and how we can work together to raise awareness and prevent its escalation.”
Von Reichbauer hosts the regional monthly meetings in attempt to encourage dialogue between local elected officials, business leaders and leaders in education. The Good Eggs Breakfast is intended to provoke thought and build the relationships necessary to serve the diverse and ever changing constituency of South King County.
