VRFA fire and rescue blotter | Dec. 15

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 245 requests for service between Dec. 4 and 10, among them the following:

Dec. 4

Accident: 1:35 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a rollover accident found a single car that had fallen 10 feet down an embankment before landing on its wheels. The young woman behind the wheel was not hurt in the crash. Kent Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Dec. 5

Natural gas leak: 7:40 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a report of gas leaking inside of a home found several occupants standing in the parking lot and a minor smell of gas. Firefighters used air monitoring equipment inside the unit, and additional firefighters walked the perimeter of the complex before finding a barbecue on the outside deck, left in the “on” position and leaking propane. Firefighters secured the tank and the stink dissipated. All occupants returned safely to their homes.

Dec. 7

Aid call:3:15 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics responded to a middle-aged woman who was complaining of chest pain, and a private ambulance transported her to St. Francis Medical Center.

Dec. 8

Accident: 8:19 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a two-car accident treated a teenage boy for minor injuries and left him at the scene with his sister.

Dec. 9

Food on the stove: 10:06 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a reported smoke detector activation found smoke in a locked apartment, and no one home. Firefighters forced their way into the apartment and found food on the stove. Firefighters cleared the smoke and returned the apartment to the occupant upon his return.

Dec. 10

Aid call:5:32 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a woman who was complaining of foot pain after falling from a standing position, and a friend transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further treatment and evaluation.
