June 8

Aid call: 9:02 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters evaluated and treated a man with high blood sugar, and a private ambulance transported him to a local hospital.

Straw bales fire: 5:18 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters responded to Game Farm Park, where a large pile of 35-40 straw bales was then ablaze, spreading to nearby trees, threatening commercial Dumpsters. Firefighters knocked down the flames, and for three hours continued to dig out hot spots in the straw. The fire is under investigation.

June 9

Aid call: 6:39 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Once firefighters had helped an older man who was complaining of high blood pressure, a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further evaluation.

June 10

Aid call: 10:34 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a toddler who had fallen in his home, hitting his head, found him lethargic and vomiting, so they called in King County Medics, who transported the child to Valley Medical Center.

June 11

Wires down: 4:12 p.m., (Algona). Having responded to reports of power lines down across a residential street, firefighters determined that the downed lines were actually cable-telephone lines. Firefighters secured the lines at the side of the road and notified the relevant cable company.

June 12

Accident: 9:15 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One responding to the 4500 block of Auburn Way North for a two-car accident found a T-bone-style mash up with intrusion into the driver’s area. Firefighters extricated a young woman from the car, treated her, and medics transported her with non-life threatening injuries to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

June 13

Home fire: 2:47 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters extinguished a motor-home fire. Nobody was hurt, but the motor home was a total loss, so firefighters contacted the Red Cross to arrange temporary housing for the displaced occupant.

June 14

Water leak: 7 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters called to investigate a water leak outside a residence found a leak at a water meter but couldn’t fully close the meter valve. Firefighters contacted the City of Auburn Water Department, which handled the situation.
