VRFA fire and rescue blotter | Nov. 25

Between Nov. 14 and 20, the VRFA responded to 247 calls for service, among them the following:

Nov. 14

Aid call: 8:30 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters treated an older woman who had been assaulted and robbed, and then left her at the scene with her daughter and Auburn Police.

Nov. 15

House fire: 11:58 p.m., (Lea Hill). While firefighters were handling a tree fire caused by a car that had smacked into a pole, reports came in about a house on fire two blocks away from that fire. Firefighters who then responded to that area found the backside of a two-story house fully ablaze. With the help of additional units from Kent and the VRFA, firefighters killed the fire. Although the building sustained significant damage, nobody was hurt, and the Red Cross provided the occupants with temporary housing. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.

Nov. 16

Water flow alarm: 9:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters who had responded to a warehouse where a fire sprinkler was in operation found that an employee who had been operating a lift truck with a stack of pallets had struck and broken the sprinkler head. After firefighters shut down the water supply to the system, they required the occupants to place a 24-hour fire watch at the business until technicians could restore the system.

Nov. 17

Aid call: 7:21 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters examined a woman who was complaining of mid-sternum chest pain and transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Nov. 18

Nov. 19

The young man had controlled his bleeding prior to the arrival of firefighters, and a friend transported him to MAMC.
