The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 177 calls for service between April 11 and April 17, among them the following:
April 11
Trailer fire: 4 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to a travel trailer ablaze in the 100 block of Seattle Boulevard North swiftly extinguished the fire with on-board tank water. Two adjacent structures sustained minor damage. The cause of the fire remains a mystery.
April 12
Accident: 6:41 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics responding to a car accident determined that the elderly man behind the wheel had had suffered a diabetic complication while he was heading East on Main Street and hit a parked car. Once firefighters stabilized and evaluated the man, they transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
April 13
Aid call: 6:42 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters helped a middle-aged woman experiencing symptoms caused by an elevated dose of pain medication. A private ambulance transported the woman to ARMC in stable condition.
April 14
Electrical hazard: 4:28 p.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a damaged light post with live, exposed wires. The resident wanted the power to the wires disconnected, but was refusing to allow the property manager into his home to handle the problem. Firefighters worked with the man to gain access to the electrical panel, then cut the juice to the exposed wires.
April 15
Aid Call: 11 a.m., (Pacific). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a rollover accident on Highway 167. Personnel found one vehicle on its top in the median, with the driver already out. The driver insisted that she wasn’t hurt and did not want to be transported to the hospital. The Washington State Patrol was on location and took over the scene.
April 16
Aid call: 8:55 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters helped a woman with severe burns to her face, then King County Medics transported her to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
April 17
Car fire: 5:02 p.m., (Auburn). Valley Com sent firefighters to a vehicle fire in the 500 block of 42nd Street Northeast. Firefighters arrived to find an SUV fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished. The vehicle was a total loss.
