April 12

Aid call: 3:21 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a report of someone who had fallen treated an injured person and a private ambulance transported said person to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

April 13

CPR: 8:40 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to the home of an elderly man who was unconscious and not breathing started CPR but gave up after talking with family members about the man’s medical history and personal wishes.

April 14

Minor fire: 9:46 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a kitchen fire found a resident standing in the front yard and light smoke streaming out of a sliding glass door on the back of the house. Firefighters entered the house and killed the fire. A quick check for extension revealed the fire was really out, so firefighters ventilated the structure using a gas-powered fan and turned it over to the resident.

April 15

Dump truck fire: 9:50 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a garbage truck on fire at the 3700 block of C Street Northeast found the trash waste had caught fire and the driver, per policy, had dumped the load of waste on the street where it continued to burn. After a lengthy extinguishment and cleanup, the City of Auburn and Waste management loaded the charred remains for disposal.

Natural gas leak: 5:18 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to reports of a natural gas leak in the garden of a home on Lea Hill discovered that a plow had ruptured a natural gas line. Firefighters summoned Sound Energy to the home and stopped the leak before it could affect any other buildings.

April 17

Welfare check: 10:15 a.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to help with a welfare check and they found boy wandering on foot eastbound on the 1600 block of Lake Tapps Parkway East. Firefighters asked Auburn police to help. Firefighters contacted the boy’s family and his sister took him home.

April 18

Motor vehicle accident: 3:25 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a two-car injury accident at the 100 Block of Southeast 320th Street found two cars with minor damage blocking traffic east bound on the Green River Bridge. Firefighters treated a female at the scene for injuries sustained from an airbag deployment and released her at the scene.
