Dec. 27

Aid call: 9:11 a.m., (Auburn).

Firefighters helped an elderly diabetic who was struggling to keep her blood sugar at a safe level. Firefighters evaluated the woman and then a private ambulance transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC).

Dec. 28

Aid call: 5:36 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the 3700 block of West Valley Highway for a tree into the wires found a tree leaning into the wires, creating a possible electrical hazard. Firefighters contacted Puget Sound Energy and then secured the area.

Dec. 29

Vehicle accident: 10:19 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a one-car accident in the 300 block of A Street Northeast came upon a car that had slid into a utility pole, resulting in minor damage. Firefighters evaluated the driver and treated her for her injuries at the scene, and then a private ambulance whisked her off to ARMC for further evaluation.

Dec. 30

Self-inflicted gunshot wound: 2:54 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a man who had shot himself in the foot with a pellet gun arrived to find the man bleeding profusely from a hole in the top of his foot. Firefighters bandaged the man’s foot and then a private ambulance carried him to ARMC in stable condition.

Dec. 31

Aid call: 11:44 a.m. (Algona). Firefighters responding to a post-operative bleeding problem examined and helped a patient and then a private ambulance transported him or her to Swedish Hospital in Seattle.

Jan. 1

Aid call: 9:33 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a middle-aged woman who had slipped on the ice and fallen on the pavement in front of her apartment building learned that she had been lying outside for several hours during the freezing weather. Firefighters examined the woman and found her to be hypothermic and suffering from low blood sugar. Firefighters and King County Medics treated the woman and then King County Medics transported her to Valley Medical Center.

Jan. 2

Aid call: 4:54 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters and King County Medics helped an unconscious and unresponsive older man. King County Medic One transported him to Valley Medical Center.
