VRFA firefighters douse brush fires along SR 167 in Pacific

The Valley Regional Fire Authority put out reported brush fires on northbound State Route 167 near Pacific on Sunday.

The first fire was initially reported at 4:14 p.m. near Stewart Road, followed by a second one along SR 167 at Ellingson Road. Frefighters knocked down and contained the initial fire – about a quarter-mile in length and 100 feet in width.

Additional fire apparatuses were requested for the second fire. They arrived to help firefighters quickly contain the second incident.

Water tenders from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue, East Pierce Fire & Rescue and Orting Valley Fire & Rescue provided support of fire operations at both incidents. The South Puget Regional Hand Team was requested to help with the overhaul of both fire scenes.

There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters.

The Washington State Patrol and state DOT were on the scene to help with traffic control.
