WE did it: Ilalko students pitch in to beautify school

Ilalko Elementary School’s Key Club members and student volunteers took Auburn Clean Sweep one step further.

After participating in the city cleanup over the last three years, students hosted their first-ever school beautification project Tuesday with the goal of coming together to turn their grounds into a more green, community driven and enjoyable space. The effort was part of the annual WE Volunteer Now social service campaign.

The Allstate Foundation made the initiative possible. Ilalko students, like many throughout America, took part in the program that encourages volunteer actions in support of National Volunteer Week, April 23-29, and beyond.

As part of WE Volunteer Now, students, schools or community groups can take on any issue, such as hunger or poverty, volunteering their time to make good go viral.

In partnership with WE Volunteer Now, Allstate provides schools with a $250 grant to put toward their volunteer action.
