Feb. 15

Aid call: 6:40 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters helped an elderly man who had fallen about two feet onto soft ground while climbing the stairs to an outside deck. Firefighters examined the man then left him at home with his family.

Feb. 16

Aid call: 6:47 p.m., (Auburn). Responding to a possible anxiety attack, firefighters administered aid to the sufferer. A private ambulance brought the man or woman to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

Aid call: 10:06 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of an unconscious person near the atrium at Auburn Regional Medical Center found the emergency room staff performing CPR on an elderly man on the sidewalk outside of the hospital. Firefighters helped the ER staff with CPR and movement of the patient to the emergency room.

Feb. 18

Aid call: 11 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and paramedics helped an unconscious and unresponsive diabetic person at a local nursing home, providing him or her with intravenous medication before a private ambulance brought him or her to ARMC.

Feb. 19

Aid call: 2:52 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a warehouse where an employee, gender not given, was experiencing chest pain. The employee had been unloading a refrigerated truck when the pain began. King County Medics evaluated and treated the person and a private ambulance brought him or her to ARMC.

Feb. 20

Fire alarm: 7:40 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to the 6300 block of Elizabeth Avenue Southeast and find a strong smell of food smoke and a light haze visible through the windows. Firefighters entered and found a covered cooking pot on the stove, so they removed the pot, searched the home and started smoke removal measures. The homeowners weren’t there so the firefighters tried to determine just who those occupants were.

Feb. 21

Motor vehicle crash: 11:25 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters from the VRFA and East Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident in the intersection of Lakeland Hills Way and Lake Tapps Parkway. A woman who had been driving one of the vehicles had to be removed with specialized tools before VRFA firefighters could transport her to ARMC. The occupants of the second vehicle were not injured.
