YMCA team conducting pledge drive

The YMCA of Greater Seattle area provides more than just swimming lessons and child care. It is a safe place for a teen in need of guidance.

The YMCA wants to spread the word of its story. More than 1,500 friends, neighbors and business associates are volunteering their time during the month of February to tell the YMCA story to 12,000 people in the Seattle area.

The program, “Partners With Youth Campaign,” is one of the region’s largest adult leadership efforts.

In addition to raising awareness, campaign volunteers are asking for pledges to support the YMCA’s important work with children and teens. The Auburn Valley YMCA’s goal is to raise $181,000 to fund financial assistance for school age child care, day camp, teens, youth sports and other key programs that build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

“I have talked to children, teens and parents who have benefited from YMCA services,” said Pamela Schmidt, Auburn Valley YMCA board member and chairperson for the campaign. “I know that Partners With Youth funds help point kids in the right direction and give them a lift back up when they need it.”
