Yolanda Trout has announced her candidacy for Auburn City Council, Position 4.

Trout, a five-year resident of Auburn, serves on the City’s planning commission and is active in a number of organizations, among them the Forest Villa Community Neighborhood Block Watch, of which she is the co-chair, and the Lions Club.

The Auburn School District has recently invited her to serve on a district committee.

Trout explained why she is running.

“To put it simply – I love this city,” Trout said. “As a councilmember, my priorities will focus on providing safe neighborhoods and encouraging new business growth so that our college graduates can stay in their hometown to pursue their careers. I am dedicated to making the city a place where children can be prepared for the future.”

Trout said she has worked hard all of her life to build a strong record of results.

“I am known as a relentless advocate, who will work on behalf of people to make things happen. As a planning commissioner, I have worked hard to listen and act thoughtfully. I have learned that it is important to be a compassionate listener and to be an independent leader. You can count on me to work diligently, if I am elected to the Auburn City Council,” Trout said.

Trout, whose father served in the Navy during World War II, said she understand how important it is to support the men and women who have served their country.

“As a councilmember, I will work every single day to ensure that our soldiers are properly welcomed home and cared for thoughtfully. I will support programs that focus on providing jobs for veterans,” Trout said.

Trout’s campaign kickoff is April 14. Her campaign website is at www. ElectYolanda.com, where visitors can find the latest on her campaign events and other campaign activities.

“I look forward to meeting all of the voters in Auburn and learning about what is important to them,” Trout said.

Position 4 is now held by Nancy Backus, who has already announced her candidacy for Auburn Mayor.
