Darrell Reid Stafford

Darrell Reid Stafford, age 52, died in University Place, Washington on Monday, January 24th, 2011 after a valiant 14 month battle with liver cancer.

Born March 18th, 1958 in Renton, Washington. Darrell was the youngest son of Richard W. Stafford and Ruth J. Stafford. He lived in Auburn, Washington his entire life and attended North Auburn Elementary, Cascade Junior High School, and Auburn High School where he graduated in 1976. Darrell followed his father to Safeway where he worked as a truck driver for nearly 28 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 174.

Darrell is survived by his mother Ruth Stafford, brothers Rick (Jan), David (Cheri), Don (Sue) – all of Auburn, and sister Shelley (Larry) of Antelope, California. He is also survived by and loved by his 14 nephews, 9 nieces, 22 great-nephews, and 25 great-nieces. Darrell was preceded in death by his father Richard W. Stafford and brother Brian Stafford. Darrell loved cars (particularly Ford Broncos), NHRA, hydroplanes, the mountains, traveling, and telling stories. He rode his bike in the Seattle to Portland bike ride several times. He made friends wherever he went, from Auburn to Russia. He was an active participant in the restoration of the Kelly Butte Forest Service fire lookout. Memorial services will be Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 625 M St. NE, Auburn. A viewing will be at 1:00 PM.
