David Luke Grambush

David Luke Grambush

January 31, 1930 – April 12, 2011

“Dave”, to friends and family, was born in Minneapolis, Mn. and raised in the farming community of Anoka County, Mn.

In 1950 he married Nathalie Alton and in 1955 the couple relocated to the Seattle area where they lived and raised their four children. David spent most of his working career as a commercial electrician. ‘Pappy”, to his coworkers, worked on many major projects in the Seattle-Tacoma area and even in the South Pacific where he was able to indulge his love of the sea and spent his free time beachcombing. Dave retired in 1995 but remained active in the IBEW local 46 (Intl. Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) as an advocate for retirees. His other interests have included participating in the CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team) program in Auburn where he lived, he also volunteered with the Food Bank and was collecting data on the history of Auburn as a project for the Mayor. He was a vocal and vigilant citizen attending many City Council meetings and was, affectionately, referred to as “the Mayor of ‘H’ St.” by many City employees. When not busy with these activities he was working on an extensive family genealogy and attending farm auctions. Dave loved old cars, tractors and trains and often rode his vintage tractor to city events. He was a resourceful guy who could fix anything and was often called on to do so for family and friends. Dave was a totally unique, no-nonsense person who was a good husband, father, brother, friend, neighbor and citizen; he touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife Nathalie, his brother Howard and his sister Irene Perron. He is survived by his daughters: Lynda Webb of Auburn, Debra Hoff of Des Moines and Mary (Andy) McDonald of Edmonds; his son David of Auburn; his grandchildren: Amber & Autumn Hoff, Meagan & Marcail McDonald and Russell Webb; his great-granddaughter: Isabella Guevara-Hoff; his brothers: Vernon (Lorraine) of San Antonio, Daniel (Harriet) of Duluth, Mn. and John (Joyce) of St. Paul, Mn. and his sister-in-law, Arlene Grambush of Auburn. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 20th at Yahn and Son Funeral Home of Auburn. In David’s memory please make a donation to your local Food Bank or the American Heart Assn.
