Ervin Steinle

We lost the patriarch of the Steinle family yesterday. Ervin Steinle passed peacefully in his sleep at Auburn Hospital, just four days shy of his 93rd birthday.

The family arrived in Auburn in the early 1940’s where his dad was the only barber in Auburn for years, some of my Auburn friends probably remember the shop in the basement of the old Penny’s store, Erv attended Auburn High School, he was an all state point guard for the basketball team.

He went on to have a long career in management with Penny’s in WA and California. He moved back to Auburn in the early 70’s to start a business management business with his wife Phyllis.

He was also an active member at his beloved Messiah Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, sons Steve, John and Paul. Five grandkids, five great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.

Erv so enjoyed talking and working with the people of Auburn at Messiah’s food bank we would like all memorials to be donated to the Messiah Lutheran Church Food Bank.
