Ethel Marie Garrison

Ethel Marie Garrison passed away on December 10, 2012 at Auburn Regional Hospital. She was born on October 9, 1923 to Tracy and Ann (Bohmann) Campbell in Mobridge, South Dakota and grew up in Trail City, along with her three brothers and three sisters. In 1939, the family migrated to Auburn. Ethel graduated from Auburn High School in 1941. After serving in the WAVES during WW2 in Washington, D.C. and Bainbridge as a top-secret decoder, she returned to Auburn and worked for the FHA. She remained loving friends with many of her military family. In 1948, she met Donald Garrison and after a whirlwind courtship, they married on August 22, 1948. They were married for 63 years. Ethel loved baking, especially gingersnap cookies, for her family and friends. She was a voracious knitter, quilter and loved gardening, playing the piano and tending to her backyard bird feeders. One of the greatest joys of her life in the last year, is when a flock of hummingbirds came to her feeders. She was a member of the Chinook Garden Club, White River Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star. Don and Ett loved cross-country skiing, traveling and dancing. Ethel is survived by her brother, Rodger Campbell and her sisters, Doris Tuntland and Mary Jane Tinsley of Auburn, and Beverly Keegan of Oakville and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald and her brothers, Vincent and Tracy Campbell and her nephews, Rory and Jason Tuntland. Inurnment services will be held at 10 am on Friday, December 28 at Tahoma National Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at Wesley Gardens at noon.
