Etta M. Thumler
Etta M. Thumler, 89, passed away September 19, 2013. She was born October 21, 1923 in Swan River, Manitoba, Canada to Albert & Florence Bates.
She spent her childhood on a sheep ranch in Hermosa, South Dakota then moved to Plains, Montana where she spent the remainder of her school years. After graduating from high school she attended business college in Great Falls, Montana and worked for the Corp of Engineers whose project was building a military air base during World War II. After the project was completed she transferred to Seattle with the Corp in 1944.
On June 20, 1947 she married Walter (Bud) Thumler. They raised two children, Albert Thumler of Auburn (Jan) and Nancy Paine of Sammamish (Jim). Her sister Edith Loder and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. She worked for the family business, Tru-Square Metal Products, which manufactures rock polishers until she was 84. She spent many happy years camping, skiing and spending time at their beach cabin with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bud Thumler and her siblings Delbert Boyer, Bob Boyer, and Helen Stephens.
A memorial service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 410 H. St. NE in Auburn at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to: Alzheimer Association, Seattle, WA.
