Grace S. Hagerty

Grace S. Hagerty, age 88, died in Federal Way on Friday, December 19, 2008. She died of natural causes with her family by her side.Grace, an Auburn resident since 1964, was born September 24, 1920 in New York City to the late William and Louise Muligano. She was one of five children. She attended public schools in New York, graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1938 where she enjoyed competitive swimming. She left for Great Falls, MT in 1944 after she met and married the love of her life, Eugene L. Hagerty, who preceded her in death in 2006.Grace and Gene resided in Great Falls, MT where she worked for the Great Northern Railway Company and they started their family. Gene’s career brought them to Seattle in 1959 and in 1964 they moved their family to Auburn when they purchased Brewer Chrysler-Plymouth in Auburn. Grace worked for the General Services Administration in Auburn until her retirement in 1984.Grace is survived by her daughter, Amber Cook, her son and his wife, Keith & Sherry Hagerty, four grandchildren, Dana Cook, Steven Cook, Gina Hagerty & Mitchell Hagerty and her brother William D. Muligano of New York and numerous nieces and nephews.A family memorial service will be held this spring at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Washington Chapter, 192 Nickerson Street, Suite 100, Seattle, WA 98109.We would like to thank all of the staff at Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Federal Way for their generous care & support.
