1934-2009

Joe Mac Fulton was born on April 16, 1934 in Dialville, TX, the seventh child of Fred B. and Bettie Frazier (Scurlock)

Fulton. After graduating from Dialville High School, he earned his Associate in Arts degree from Tyler Junior College. He served two years in the Army where he was a paratrooper. After discharge from the Army he served in the Texas National Guard while attending Steve F. Austin State College in Nacogdoches. His

schooling was interrupted by his induction into the United States Air Force. He entered the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant and held the rank of Captain when he was honorably discharged twelve years later. During those years, he served as a fighter pilot,flying F-104s and other aircraft. Joe’s wife of forty-two years, Margaret M. Whitman, and he were married on September 3,1966, in Oregon City, OR, and their son, J. Michael Fulton, was born July 25, 1969, while Joe was based at Homestead, FL. After leaving the service,the family moved to Auburn, WA, where Joe served as an air traffic controller for a number of years. He finished his working career as a supervisor of operations at Sea-Tac Airport for the Port of Seattle.

He loved to hunt and fish, was an avid reader, and thoroughly enjoyed football and other sports. He also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds,squirrels and other little animals that frequented the grounds around their family home.

He entered the presence of the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2009, after being ill for about eight months, and was laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday, February 13, 2009. His parents, his three brothers, F.B., James and Bill, and his three sisters, Helen, Laurna Elizabeth, and Jane, all preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, son, J. Michael, daughter-inlaw

Jennifer (Lumpkin) Fulton, three grandchildren–Jonathan, Anna and Kristina, his niece, Marilyn Evans of Tyler, TX, and four nephews: Frazier Carter of Tyler, TX; David Fulton and Skip Fulton of Rusk, TX; and Kenny Fulton of LaPorte, TX.
