Julie Lynn Valentine

Julie Lynn Valentine

July 13, 1960 – October 5, 2014

Julie was born and grew up in Auburn, gaining honors and having fun until graduating from Auburn High in 1978. Then she headed for water; first to Maui, then Alki and finally Sundin Beach on Camano Island. Gregarious and playful, she began in food and beverage at Lahaina’s Banyan Inn, then moved onto many of Seattle’s top eateries while attending her beloved U-Dub. In her 30’s she began a career in Horticulture and became a mainstay at Stanwood’s Christianson Nursery, until signs of a connective tissue disease Scleroderma emerged which she battled for the next 16 years.

Her spirit lives on in the hearts of many: husband Bob Clampett, parents Ken and Fern Valentine, sisters Cathie McKinney (Bernie), Sheila Valentine; brother Dave Valentine; nieces Kacie Leacy (Ryan), and Amanda O’Donnell, nephew Chris McKinney; Children by marriage: JoEllen O’Reilly, (Dennis), Robin Ludlam, (Will) Scott Clampett; Grandchildren Maddie and Declan O’Reilly, Ethan, Tatum and Eliza Ludlam; many cousins, and her dearest friend, Gaylen Brule.

Aloha, sweet Julie. A Farewell Celebration in Camano Center’s Sundin Room (camanocenter.com) will be Saturday, November 1st @ 1 p.m.. Remembrances in her name are requested to: Wachapter@scleroderma.org.
