Lawrence A. “Pat” O’Kelley

May 4, 1928 – October 8, 2010

Pat O’Kelley, age 82, was born May 4, 1928 in Denver, CO and passed away October 8, 2010 after being in declining health for some time.Pat was among those young men of a certain era who fibbed about their age to join the efforts in WWII. After serving in the U.S. Merchant Marine to the end of hostilities, Pat left service and re-joined his family in Denver. After arriving in Seattle in 1948, where he met his wife of over 60 years and life-long love Beverly, he worked a variety of jobs in Seattle. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Army and went to Korea where he fought in five United Nations campaigns. He remained in the Army until 1976, when he retired as a CWO4 from the Nuclear Weapons Support Section at Fort Lewis. Later in life he was an avid volunteer with the Auburn Police Department, where his devotion and work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of the beat cops as well as APD leadership.Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence LeRoy and Inez Delores, his sister Betty and a son, Kenneth Neal. He is survived by his wife Beverly, children Mike (Sippie), Tom (Meredith), Gene, Patricia (Roland), Kevin (Samantha) and Brian (Kelly), 11 grand-children and 6 (and 7/10!) great-grandchildren. A family memorial is planned in lieu of funeral services. Cremation and interment through Edline-Yahn & Covington.
