Mac Towner

Mac Towner went home to be with his Lord October 12, 2014. Mac was born in Auburn, WA on November 15, 1932 to Frederick and Lillian Towner.

Mac is survived by his loving wife Carolyn (McGibbon) Towner; son Daniel Barnett; daughters Jacqueline (Barry) Boman, Janice (John) Harlor; stepsons William (April) Kohler, Steven Kohler; eight grandchildren and two sisters Kathrine Hansen and Winnifred Dinwiddie. He is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Thorp.

He graduated from Auburn High School in 1950 and worked in the family dry cleaning business and then worked for the railroad. He served 4 years in the Air Force and also served in the National Guard and Army Reserves. He was a mechanic for the Auburn School District from where he retired, after which he and his wife traveled and lived 9 years in Yuma, AZ., before moving back to Auburn 12 years ago.

Mac enjoyed restoring classic cars, fishing, camping, hunting, 4-wheeling, vegetable gardening and get-togethers with family and friends.

He helped construct the Auburn Eagles building and was active doing volunteer work in the communities where he lived, before and after retirement.

A Celebration of life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

He brought several smiles to everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
