Matt Fioretti

Matt Fioretti was born May 5, 1920 in Carbonara, Italy and passed peacefully on May 22, 2011 at home in Auburn. Matt immigrated to the US in 1933 and served in the US Army as a translator in Italy. He worked on the railroad for 48 years, including work as a foreman and track supervisor. Matt was active in his community and was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed nature and fed his family each year from his fruitful garden. Matt and his devoted wife of 65 years Antonetta have five children: Gene (Anna), Joe (Debbie), Mary Knoll (Dan), Dave (Patty), and Matt (Dee); they also have 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be held at 7 PM on Thursday May 26 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn, and the funeral at 1 PM on Friday May 27. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Franciscan Hospice of Tacoma or Veteran’s Association Puget Sound Fisher House.
