Rebecca Fay Schaffer Lane

November 26, 1954 – October 10, 2012

Rebecca was born in Spokane, Washington on Thanksgiving 1954 at Deaconess Hospital. She and her family moved to Auburn, Washington in 1963. Rebecca graduated from Auburn High School in 1973 and enrolled at Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her R.N diploma. Rebecca relocated to Fort Worth, Texas in 1976. She was an active member of the American Eagle and North Texas Harley Davidson chapters and membership secretary of the DFW Case Management Society of America at the time of her death. Rebecca had completed in 2011 her BS in Nursing at University of Texas – Arlington and had nearly completed her Masters degree in nursing at American Sentinel University. She is survived by her son, Andrew Dallas Lane, daughter Hannah Christine Lane Branning (John) and granddaughter Elizabeth Grace Branning. Rebecca is also survived by her brothers William Allen (Katy), Bernard James (Elizabeth) and Robert Paul (Cathy) as well as eight nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded by her father, Herbert Paul Schaffer (2008) and her mother Elaine Marilyn Schaffer (2009). Rebecca was a nursing case manager with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, having recently joined them following a nursing career, most recently at Baylor Medical Center in Carrollton, Texas. A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 1st Christian Church of Lewisville, Texas. Her ashes will be placed in the waters of her beloved Puget Sound in her home state of Washington.
