Sharon Lee Samuelson, 65, of Auburn, passed away with her children at her side on Friday, October 2, 2009 following a courageous two-year battle with metastasized lung cancer. She was a lifelong non-smoker. Sharon is survived by her two children: John Samuelson of Buckley, and Julie (Kevin) Cox, and a grandson, Connor Warren, of Moorpark, CA. She is also survived by her eight siblings: Raymond Mattox of Davenport; Marvin (Theresa) Dickson of Valencia, CA; Dolores (Norm) Willett of Republic; Betty (Kenny) Donaldson of Winters, CA; Norma (Bill) Wills of Clinton, MT; Thomas (Donna) Dickson of Everett; Regina Dickson of Everett; Lawrence Dickson of Winters, CA, and also by a sister-in-law, Sylvia Felder of St. Thomas, USVI. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Dickson in 1976, and Gertrude Woodhull in 1998; a sister-in-law, Linnea Mattox in 1998; a nephew, Andrew Dickson in 2001; a brother-in-law, Denis Felder in 2007; and also by her ex-husband, S. Alan Samuelson in 2008.Sharon Lee Dickson was born in Charlo, MT, to Gertrude and Albert Dickson, the sixth of nine children. As a child she lived in various locations in Montana and Washington state, settling in Everett in the 7th grade. She graduated from Everett High School in 1962. She married S. Alan Samuelson in 1965, and daughter Julie arrived in 1965, followed by son John in 1969. She and her family lived in Everett, Mukilteo, Federal Way and then Auburn. Sharon spent most of her adult life working for Mannesmann Tally in Kent, later joining Carlyle, which then became Carlisle IT, in Tukwila. Sharon enjoyed dancing and was also active in softball and bowling leagues for a number of years, and planned to continue those activities in retirement. Everyone who knew her knew she was most proud of her children and grandson and she enjoyed spending time with them as well as with the rest of her family. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and was a special favorite of many of her younger grand-nieces and nephews, always finding a way to make gatherings fun for everyone.A Memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, October 17th at Noon at John’s home in Buckley. Sharon suggested donations to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
