The search to replace Adam Barrett as head coach of the two-time defending state champion Auburn Riverside High girls basketball team is officially in progress.

Barrett stepped down earlier this month to pursue other opportunities in basketball. The Auburn School District opened the job on Monday, and it will remain open until it is filled.

According to a release from the district, a valid teaching certificate is preferred, but not required. A teaching position might be available with the coaching position. Experience as a head coach is preferred, and, the district said, “evidence of a willingness to manage and maintain a large and successful 4A basketball program.”

Questions can be directed to Auburn Riverside athletic director Doug Aubert at (253) 804-5159, or by e-mailing to daubert@auburn.wednet.edu. Applications can be directed to the Auburn School District’s Human Resources Department, 915 Fourth St. N.E., Auburn, 98002.
