This new league is open to players ages 18-25. Teams will play 10 league games on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays beginning the week of Aug. 3 at Brannan Park in Auburn. AUBURN PARKS YOUTH PROGRAM
This recreational program for boys and girls who will enter grades 1-8 in the fall of 2010 focuses on fundamentals, conditioning, confidence, leadership and sportsmanship, and will includes practices and meets. It is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, May 31-July 15 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Auburn, Auburn Riverside and Auburn Mountainview high schools. The cost is $35 for Auburn residents/$44 for non-residents if registered by May 6, and an additional $10 after that date. More information: Auburn Parks at (253) 931-3043.
AUBURN PARKS/SKYHAWKS CAMP
This camp for boys and girls ages 6-12 is scheduled for July 26-30 from 9 a.m.-noon each day at Mt. Baker Middle School in Auburn. It will focus on running short and long distances, and developing strength and techniques for other events. It will include a track meet at the end of the week. TRIATHLON
TRIATHLON BASICS
This course will focus on training, equipment, and racing, and is scheduled for Thursday, May 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Kent Commons. It will be taught by coaches from Raise the Bar. The cost is $5. More information: Kent Parks at (253) 856-5000.
TRIATHLON TRAINING
These swim and run workouts are for athletes age 18 and older. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards without stopping. Wet suits are mandatory to swim in deep water or along the buoy line. Running workouts will take place around Lake Meridian and on the Soos Creek Trail. Sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays, June 9-Aug. 25, from 6:15-8 p.m. at Lake Meridian Park. Costs are $150 for the entire season, $120 for nine workouts, $84 for six workouts, and $15 on a drop-in basis. More information: Kent Parks at (253) 856-5000. PAT POWERS CLINIC
These two-day clinics are for players age 13 to adult. Among the topics covered are putting spin on the ball to increase control, how to snap a ball instead of hitting it, and how to put ‘pop’ onto serves.
