Auburn basketball players honored with SPSL North 4A all-league selections | Girls Basketball

The Auburn Riverside girls basketball team dominated this week’s South Puget Sound League North 4A all-league rosters, with five Raven players and head coach Terry Johnson all garnering honors.

University of Washington-bound senior Mercedes Wetmore was selected as the SPSL North 4A’s Co-player of the Year, sharing the honor with Kentwood’s Kylie Huerta.

This season Wetmore’s team-high 17.2 points per game has helped the No. 1 ranked Raven girls compile a perfect 16-0 league record, 23-0 overall. The team captured the SPSL North 4A title and currently has their sights set on repeating as district champions. Wetmore was also selected to the first team all-league squad.

Junior Kat Cooper was also honored with a first-team selection. So far this season Cooper is averaging 14.5 points per game.

Kara Jenkins, Brooklyn Hinkens and Taylor Wofford earned honorable mentions.

First year head coach Johnson was also honored with the Coach of the Year award.

The Ravens will play Federal Way (13-3, 21-4) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Showare Center in Kent. The winner will advance to the WCD II 4A title game against either Kentwood or Bellarmine at the Showare this Friday.

ALSO: Auburn senior Heather Restrepo was selected to the SPSL North 4A second-team. Restrepo is averaging 14.2 points per game. Trojan sophomore Isia Johnson was picked as an honorable mention.
