No comeback was necessary for the Auburn Mountainview baseball squad on Saturday, with the Lions riding the arm of senior pitcher Shawn Guinn to a 7-1 victory against West Seattle in the Washington State 3A title game at GESA Stadium in Pasco.

Guinn gave up just five hits in the contest, pitching six innings and fanning five batters, as the Lions (26-3) cruised to their first ever state baseball title.

“I don’t even know what to think,” Guinn told the Seattle Times. “I’m just amazed right now. The whole season this team has shown a lot of heart. To end it like this, no better way.”
