Another match, another shutout for the Auburn Mountainview girls soccer team, as the Lady Lions blanked Peninsula 2-0 this past Tuesday. Deanna Colburn was again a stone wall between the pipes, notching her 12th shutout of the season. Danica Collop and Sydney Coleman notched goals in the contest with assists going to Coleman and Hannah Morse. Auburn Mountainview is currently 6-2-0 in the SPSL 3A, 10-3-1 overall.
ALSO: The Streak continued for Kentwood on Tuesday as Courtney Johnson and Megan Walburn did their usual business in goal as the Conquerors blanked Auburn, 1-0. Mackenzie Meyers supplied all the offense the Johnson-Walburn wall would need, scoring unassisted in the 33rd minute. It’s the 11th straight combined shutout for Johnson and Walburn. Kentwood improved to 12-0-0 with 16 points. … Tahoma got a goal apiece from Savannah Johnson and Mollie Picha in the first 23 minutes on Tuesday night against Kentlake. Ten minutes later, however, Kentlake managed to pull even, getting scores from Brooke Emtman (27th minute) and Laura Rayfield (29th minute), which is where things remained. The tie is the fifth of the season for Kentlake (4-4-5, 17 points). Despite the tie, Tahoma (7-2-3, 24 points) remained in second place heading into last night’s games. … Katie Carrell and Megan Hilby each tallied a goal, leading Jefferson (5-5-3, 18 points) past Auburn Riverside (6-2-4, 22 points) on Tuesday, 2-1. Chelsea Pries accounted for the Ravens’ lone goal. … Dana Johnson and Taylor Hayes each scored a pair of goals, leading Kentridge (4-5-4, 16 points) past Kent-Meridian (0-12-0, 0 points, 8-0). Kentridge hosts Kentlake at 7:30 p.m. this Tuesday at French Field. Kent-Meridian will travel to Tahoma for a 7:30 contest.

Auburn Moutainview closed out their regular season schedule this past week with a pair of matches. The Lions defeated White River handily in three, 25-17, 25-16, 26-24. Megan McBride led the way with 10 kills and 22 assists. Auburn Mountainview lost their final game to Bonney Lake 3-1, by scores of 22-25, 25-20, 18-25, 14-25. McBride had 30 assists and Alex Odren added 16 digs. The SPSL 3A sub-districts begin on Oct. 31.
ALSO: Kentwood made it a perfect 50-for-50 in South Puget Sound League North Division play on Tuesday night, handling Kent-Meridian in three games: 25-13, 25-14, 25-11. With the win, Kentwood (7-0) remained atop the North heading into play last night. It was the first league loss of the season for the Royals (5-1). Jessie Genger led Kentwood with 17 kills. … Kentlake (6-0) remained neck and neck with Kentwood, knocking off Auburn Riverside in five games on Tuesday 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-11. Brooke Bray put together a monster game for the Ravens (3-3), pounding out a match-high 22 kills and adding 10 blocks. Kentlake senior Melissa Kozy was just as impressive, garnering 21 kills and 20 digs. … Kentridge remained in the hunt for one of the top three playoff berths from the North, knocking off Jefferson in five games 23-25, 25-7, 25-19, 22-25, 15-11. Marissa Fujimoto served up 39 assists while Ashley Nguyen delivered 15 kills for the Chargers (4-2). … Maria Bahnlenhorst pulled off a nice double-double on Tuesday, racking up 20 kills and adding 19 digs, leading Tahoma (2-5) past Auburn (1-5) in five games 19-25, 25-5, 25-27, 26-24, 15-9.
GOLF: Heffernen second at tourney
Auburn Mountainview’s Julie Heffernen punched her ticket to the state 3A golf tourney this past week with a second place finish at the SPSL 3A golf tourney at Chambers Bay Golf Course. Heffernen, a junior, finished up with a 174 over the two-day tourney. Heffernen notched a 10-over-par 82 in her first 18 holes and a 92 for day two. Teammate Megan Hurley was seventh in the tourney with a 195 and Julia Schneider finished 11th with a 201. Enumclaw’s Mara Koplitz was the medalist with a 162.
In the boys tourney Auburn Mountainview’s Tanner Easley finished 11th with a 13-over-par 157. Justin Cory was 15th with a 161 and Kelly Campbell fell to 19th, with a 163 for 36 holes, after a second place finish on day one.
Tumwater’s Cameron Peck was the medalist with a 3-under-par 141.
