Auburn Mountainview boys and girls track and field team compete at South Puget Sound League 3A Division jamboree in Sumner

The Auburn Mountainview boys and girls track and field teams kicked off their 2009 campaign at the South Puget Sound League 3A Division jamboree this past Saturday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

The boys squad was led by senior Seth Rumbaugh who finished first in the 400-meters with a 51.78 second finish. Rumbaugh also finished third in the 3200 with a 10:28.30 time.

Freshman Jarey Suiter was third in the 100 meters with a 11.79 time.

The Lion’s 800 relay team took home second place with a 1:41.17 finish.

In the field events, Auburn Mountainview’s Josh Melu was third in the long jump with an 18-feet, 8-inches jump.

For the Lion girls team, senior Kendra Alexson finished second in the 100 with a 13.94 time.

Sophomore Hillary Frett was third in the 100 hurdles with a 18.87 finish.

The girls 800 relay team – including Alexson, Jordan Bush, Alayna Wagers and Kylie Olenick – was second with a 1:56.26 time.

Auburn Mountainview will compete in the Kent-Meridian Invitational March 28 at French Field and begin their regular season dual meets with a home meet against Capital April 2.
