Auburn Mountainview football head coach Mike Clancy resigns

Mike Clancy has resigned as head coach of the Auburn Mountainview football team, according to Auburn School District Athletic Director Rob Swaim.

According to Swaim, Clancy stepped down this past week.

This season the Lions finished 2-7 overall, with a 2-6 South Puget Sound League 3A record, good for sixth-place.

In 2008 the team posted a 4-4 league record and finished in fourth-place. The squad was 6-4 overall.

The Auburn Mountainview football team has yet to make a postseason appearance.

Clancy has been the football head coach at Auburn Mountainview since the school opened in 2005. Before that he was the head coach of the Kent-Meridian football team and an assistant with the Auburn Trojans.

Clancy will continue to teach at the high school.
